On November 30, the FWT: Freies Werkstatt Theater is organizing a symposium on the experiences and strategies of theater and art professionals in dealing with the European shift to the right, to which we would like to invite you. This shift to the right has recently gained threatening momentum. It exists in various forms throughout Europe. It is at different stages of development and uses a variety of approaches. But it always attacks culture. What insights have theater professionals from eastern German states or our neighboring countries already gained here?
We are looking forward to contributions in English from 3 pm by Ilse Delmeire, Managing Director of the Campo Gent Art Center, Michał Rogulski, International Relations of Komuna Warszawa Warsaw and Walter Bart, part of the artistic direction of Wunderbaum. They will share with us how right-wing cultural politics have affected theater in Belgium, Poland, the Netherlands and Thuringia in recent years and how they have dealt with this threat. After a short break, we will open the round table at 5 pm to discuss in German and English what international cooperation is necessary and what strategies are needed to counter the European shift to the right.
We very much hope to welcome you to the symposium in Cologne! As the number of participants is limited, we kindly ask you to register by November 29 at j.sommer@fwt-koeln.de. Afterwards, we will be showing "Billions of Echoes" by Naoko Tanaka, to which we would also like to cordially invite you.
