The house of camp commander Rudolf Höß and his wife Hedwig is directly adjacent to the Auschwitz concentration camp: a well-tended perennial garden, family visits, day trips to the nearby river. The director, camera and actors keep the greatest possible distance from the people who act here and organize their everyday lives.
