The RunRig Experience

A tribute to the Scottish superband RunRig

RunRig were one of the most successful Scottish bands and had a loyal fan base not only in Scotland, but also in Denmark and Germany. They landed several number one hits and albums in the charts. Formed in 1973 on the Isle of Skye, the band released 14 studio albums, some of which were sung in Scottish Gaelic.

Their music is a fascinating blend of folk and rock, deeply rooted in Scottish history, politics and the people of the land. This combination of music and tradition, with Gaelic lyrics, created a unique identity that was the special magic of RunRig.

In 2016, the band announced their retirement from the studio, accompanied by the release of their final album, The Story. Their farewell tour The Final Mile followed in 2017, and in August 2018 they performed their final concert, entitled The Last Dance, in front of 52,000 fans at Stirling City Park.

Singer and guitarist Richie Muir from Edinburgh, himself a huge RunRig fan, then founded the RunRig Experience. This band celebrates the music of RunRig and preserves the legacy of this legendary group. Ben Marshall from RunRig Experience explains:

"We didn't want to be a typical tribute band, we wanted to celebrate the music and influence of RunRig. It's not just about filling the void they left behind, but paying tribute to their music and their incredible contribution to the music industry and to Scotland."

RunRig Experience brings the magical songs back to the stage and invites fans to celebrate, sing, dance and reminisce.
