THE PILLOWMAN

In an unspecified totalitarian state, a writer is taken to a police station. In the course of a brutal interrogation, it emerges that the writer is not only accused of being politically unreliable, but also of a series of murders that seem to be based on his works down to the last detail.

Martin McDonagh is a multi-award-winning Irish playwright who has also increasingly appeared as a film director and writer in recent years. He won the Oscar in 2006 for his film debut "Six Shooter" and was subsequently nominated a further six times(Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, The Banshees of Inisherin, In Bruges).

THE PILLOWMAN is McDonagh's best-known play. After its successful premiere at the National Theatre in 2003, the play quickly became a worldwide success and was performed on Broadway, at the Vienna Burgtheater and at the Munich Residenztheater, among others. It won two Tonys, the Olivier Award and the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award.
