Celebrating the Terry Gibbs Dream Band feat. Matthias Strucken (vibraphone)

The Big Band Convention has been delighting audiences with big band jazz since 1996.

Without exception, outstanding professional musicians come together here to celebrate authentic,
orchestral jazz. We have dedicated ourselves to the swinging big band tradition
tradition.

This time our program celebrates the American vibraphonist Terry Gibbs, who turned 100 last October.
Gibbs, who turned 100 last October. Only recently he released
live recordings of his legendary big band from 1959.
Under the accomplished direction of Stefan Pfeifer and with Matthias Strucken on vibraphone
we bring the rousing power of the Terry Gibbs Dream Band back to life.
We present the original arrangements from the pens of Bill Holman, Bob
Brookmeyer, Marty Paich, Manny Albam and Al Cohn.
At the end of the fifties, Terry Gibbs made the jazz world sit up and take notice. The great
music of his Dream Band has lost none of its fascination to this day
