Tex, a formerly homeless street musician and songwriter for the legendary punk band Slime, is giving German punk a new face with his unmistakable voice and honest lyrics. He joined Slime as a singer in 2022, and with the album Zwei (number 7 in the album charts), for which he contributed all the lyrics, he led the 40-year-old band into a new era and expanded their fan base. Slime continued to play in sold-out clubs and halls and at renowned festivals such as Wacken, Open Flair and the Ruhrpottrodeo in front of hundreds of thousands of fans. In October 2024, Tex's autobiography Dreck und Glitzer was published by KiWi Verlag. Lucas, founding member, lyricist, singer and guitarist of the Hamburg band Liedfett, is also a solo artist and has been an integral part of the German-speaking music scene for 15 years. Liedfett has proven its live presence with sold-out club tours and appearances at renowned festivals such as Deichbrand, Hurricane and Nova Rock. Lucas has released six Liedfett albums and two solo albums to date. Tex and Lucas met by chance, and one night of partying outside a hotel was enough to bring Teluxe to life. Their shared love of handmade and direct music united them from the very beginning. Their debut album Der Wind ist mit uns! (The wind is with us!) crosses genres: it moves between blues, rock, folk, hip-hop, country and dark Americana - infused with a strong pinch of punk attitude. The result: honest and handmade music that doesn't need much explanation. Their debut single Hart. opens a musical journey through the emotional world and stories of two extraordinary personalities. With Getaway, one of the first songs they wrote together in the construction trailer in early 2023, Tex and Lucas give a deep insight into their bond. Lucas describes it like this: "We encouraged each other. Despite our very different backgrounds, we quickly realized that we complement each other and have a lot in common. The decision to join Teluxe came from the desire to leave our comfort zone together." Courage means facing up to fear and carrying on regardless. Tex describes writing in the construction trailer as an extraordinary experience: "Every night we went through produced a new song. This creativity and spontaneity had a momentum of its own that I've never experienced before." Lucas adds: "When you consciously look deep into your own wounds together, something powerful and honest can emerge." In The Boy, Tex and Lucas look back on their childhood and youth, on the time of being different that shaped them. Serious illnesses, mental diagnoses and the search for acceptance - all of this, coupled with a tongue-in-cheek defiance, characterizes the song in which they openly say: "Fuck you!" Eigentor (featuring Monchi) is a song that reflects both nostalgia and pain. "If you have nothing to lose, you know the freedom, but also the fear when you suddenly have something you want to keep," explains Tex. The collaboration with Monchi was characterized by respect and depth. "Monchi has a special presence. The session was focused, intense and, above all, honest." Nicht kaputt is a declaration of love for life and self-acceptance. "It's about self-love and the strength we experience through our scars. At the same time, it's about finding a partner who helps us bring out the best in ourselves and reminds us to be good to ourselves," says Tex. The first studio experiences in Hamburg continued the energy of the construction van sessions. Fred Slacker, a long-time friend of Lucas, was there from the start and brought new musical impulses as a producer. "We immediately liked Fred. During the first session, we realized what was possible," Tex describes. Tobias Roeger, an established and successful producer, joined the team shortly afterwards. "Tobias and Fred are both musicians at heart, highly creative and incredibly talented. As a threesome or foursome, the work was enjoyable and focused," says Tex. "Every studio session felt like a real adventure." The album Der Wind ist mit uns! surprises again and again: with Polaroid, Teluxe tread the line to romance, "We wanted to write our partners a song that was touching - and at the same time you don't know whether it's too cheesy or not," laughs Tex. With Risse, danceable and psychedelic, and Dorothy, which resembles a wind of fate, the album delves into completely different worlds of sound. The song Legende gets the listener moving and dancing along. Teluxe has always remained open to experimentation. Lucas: "We recorded many of the beats ourselves, whether by stomping, clapping or hitting the corrugated iron roof. Tobias moved the studio to the forest without further ado and we spent wonderful summer days there. It could always be like that, as far as I'm concerned," adds Tex. May their concerts fill the halls, may the audience be thrilled - and may we all soon know who Teluxe really are.
