Papen's meeting with Hitler in the house of the banker Schröder on January 4, 1933 in Cologne-Lindenthal is considered the "birth of the Third Reich". Under the mediation of banker Kurt Freiherr von Schröder, Franz von Papen, Reich Chancellor for six months under Paul von Hindenburg, and Adolf Hitler agreed on Hitler's chancellorship. We hear about this meeting and explore the neighborhood. The gardens of the houses at Stadtwaldgürtel 34 and Fürst Pückler Straße 42 are opposite. The family of Dr. Emil Meirowsky, associate professor of dermatology and chairman of the Cologne Medical Association, lived right next to the Stadtwald. After his teaching license was revoked in 1933 because of his Jewish origins, all academic titles were revoked and he had to give up his practice, he emigrated to England in 1939. I wonder if he ever treated Baron von Schröder? We head towards Braunsfeld, passing the villa of Gauleiter Josef Grohe at Fürst-Pückler Straße 58, where there was a dedicated line to Adolf Hitler. Finally, we drive to the last residence of Dr. Albert Kramer, City Director and Finance Director of the City of Cologne under Konrad Adenauer. He was removed from office in 1933. Until his deportation to the Litzmannstadt ghetto in 1941, he was, among other things, chairman of the Cologne synagogue community.
