Tata Ronkholz: Shaped World - A Retrospective
The artist and photographer Tata Ronkholz (1940-1997) is being honored with a major retrospective. As one of the first students in Bernd Becher's class at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, her work has long been received only in part. She became known for her series of kiosks and drinking halls in the Rhineland and Ruhr region, which she photographed from 1977 onwards. She also produced series on industrial gates and a documentation of the Düsseldorf Rhine harbor (1979-1981) with Thomas Struth. The exhibition also shows early works as a product designer and architectural photographs from Italy. An accompanying catalog will be published.

Lawrence Beck: Botanical Studies - A look at the collection

This exhibition of photographs by the American artist Lawrence Beck is the result of a donation of 40 photographs. They are a convincing addition to the Lawrence Beck collection. Beck deals with nature and plants, which he finds particularly in botanical gardens and parks. He incorporates signage or built structures into his pictorial compositions in order to refer to the various aspects of the cultivation of nature.

Elena Efeoglou: Blurring reality and fiction - August Sander meets AI
A project in collaboration with Artist Meets Archive/International Photoscene Cologne

The artist Elena Efeoglou from Thessaloniki was a guest at the Photographische Sammlung/SK Stiftung Kultur in summer 2024 to research the August Sander Archive and develop a specific project: Based on selected portrait photographs by August Sander, Efeoglou created fictional stories that form the basis for image works generated using AI. August Sander's photographs thus appear in a new light, reflecting questions of pictorial and historical contexts with contemporary means, exploring the space of possibilities between factuality and interpretation.
Free admission always on the first Thursday of the month for Long Thursday.
Public guided tour at 7 pm.
