Tanz im Lichthof: Akwaaba – Willkommen

In the organizer's words:

In 2023, the German-Ghanaian dancer and choreographer Solomon Quaynoo traveled to his family's homeland and faced up to the intense confrontation with his own identity and history. The tradition of Ankos dance is closely linked to both. This experience had a lasting impact on his awareness of being black and influenced his way of expressing himself through dance.

On his journey, Quaynoo experienced his body as a reflection of the history of his ancestors. He formulates this expansion of his identity through the collective memory of his people in a rebellious language of dance. Together with the Ankos dancer Lord from Takoradi, Ghana, Solomon Quaynoo tells a moving story that combines dance, a personal search for traces and the question of identity and origin.

"Parcour des Erinnerns" is a series of events organized by Kreativ-Haus e. V. in cooperation with ProArtiSt Münster and the LWL-Museum für Kunst und Kultur. This project is funded by the Diversity Fund of the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the LWL Cultural Foundation as part of "POWR! Postcolonial Westphalia-Lippe".
