Guests at the Capitol in Bremerhaven can see for themselves that Tan Caglar knows how to combine his handicap with inclusion, humor and irony like no other. The "Swiss army knife of marginalized groups" - as Tan Caglar describes himself - is an all-round talent with courage, humour, charm and a good dose of self-irony. In his stage program "Can't do it? Doesn't exist!" he exposes the pitfalls of everyday life as a wheelchair user and relates them to the lives of non-wheelchair users - the so-called "pedestrians". The comedian with German-Turkish roots talks self-deprecatingly about therapy visits, for example, in which he processes his happy childhood in Hildesheim and how he advertises skipping ropes as an influencer. Not possible? He doesn't do that.
Tan Caglar is not only a media-effective ambassador for inclusion with his stage program, the 44-year-old has also made a name for himself as a coach, presenter, actor, sportsman and model. The former professional wheelchair basketball player has worked as a model in front of the camera and is the first actor in a wheelchair to appear in a German series production in the ARD series "In aller Freundschaft" as doctor Dr. Ilay Demir. He can also be seen in several episodes alongside the Berlin crime scene team Rubin and Karow as assistant detective Malik Aslan.
Tan Caglar will be a guest in Bremerhaven as part of the campaign week initiated by Aktion Mensch to mark the nationwide day of protest for equality for people with disabilities (May 5), following an invitation from the Inclusive Bremerhaven network and the Bremen Chamber of Employees. Many thanks to Aktion Mensch for sponsoring this event!
