SYMBIOSIS

Two circus artists, two styles, one performance experience. Symbiosis - created by Kolja Huneck and Luuk Brantjes - is a contemporary circus diptych that combines circus, magic nouvelle and object theater. Symbiosis delves deep into the tension and balance between humanity and its natural environment. The artists each embark on their own path within a surreal universe, exploring how humans relate to the ephemeral world around them.

Juggling and acrobatics merge into a surprising choreographic dialog between artists, objects, material and space. The specially constructed dome tent becomes a stage space in which these elements flow into one another and invite the audience into an immersive world.

Symbiosis is a project created by Kolja Huneck from Munich, Germany, and Luuk Brantjes from Rotterdam, Netherlands. The two contemporary circus artists met during their studies at the Codarts Circus Arts circus school in Rotterdam. In 2022, Kolja and Luuk joined forces to develop a performative concept in which two artistic styles merge and reinforce each other to form a symbiotic whole. They developed their own mobile dome tent to create an immersive performance and go on tour independently.
