"A safe place is one where someone else doesn't decide who I have to be," writes Laura Cazés. Above all, it expresses the perspective of a younger generation that does not want to be defined by the past: "We don't want to be a living memorial - not constantly talking about the Shoah, about anti-Semitism, about the Middle East conflict". Cazé's core theme is the diversity of Jewish lifeworlds in Germany and their perception and inclusion in social discourse spaces.
