Südpol.Windstill

In the organizer's words:

The North Pole is the northernmost point on earth. A layer of ice floats on the water there. The area around the North Pole is called the Arctic. The name comes from the Greek and means 'land under the constellation of the Great Bear'. In contrast, the South Pole is located on the continent of Antarctica. Ida is 10 years old and fascinated by these parts of the world, which sound and appear similar, but are nevertheless very different. Her best friend Robert Falcon Scott shares her passion. Together they are preparing for future research trips that will take them to the endless expanses of the polar regions! Endless expanses. And a lot of silence in the icy landscape. Ida sometimes has to be quiet at home, too, so as not to upset her mother unnecessarily.

"A line runs through my mother's body.
It starts here, I think, and ends roughly here.
Of course, the line is invisible.
This line divides my mother
into two mother's bodies, which alternate
by the day, by the week, all of a sudden."

Ida's mother also has two different poles, because she has a mental illness that Ida has learned to live with. The outside world doesn't understand her mother as well as Ida does. Now, for some reason, the school absolutely wants to talk to her mother - Robert and Ida have to prevent this!

Armela Madreiter studied German and Romance Studies at the University of Vienna, Applied Theater Studies at the University of Giessen and Applied Theater at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. She works as a dramaturge, director and author in several independent theater collectives in Vienna(wohingenau, Hira*). Her first play südpol.windstill was awarded the Mira Lobe Scholarship for Children's and Youth Literature and the Special Prize of the German Children's and Youth Theater Prize 2022. Franz Marie Hoffmann studied Performing Arts and Spanish at Leibniz Universität Hannover and in the meantime at the Universidad de Guadalajara in Mexico. She has been working as an assistant director at the KJT Dortmund since 2022. After successfully co-directing the youth club in the last two seasons (most recently Ausbreitungszone), she is now making her debut on stage at Sckelly.
