The project "Standing Still - Refugees and Seafarers in the Pandemic" is dedicated to the experience of the Covid-19 pandemic by refugees and seafarers.
To this end, research findings are transferred into an experiential space: The exhibition, squeezed into a kind of tunnel, ties in with visitors' experiences and uses chats, feeds and sound to try to get close to the reality of life for refugees and seafarers during the pandemic. Visitors on site are asked the question "And how did you feel during the pandemic?".
Research for the exhibition was conducted by anthropologist Luisa Piarth from the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology and social medicine and healthcare researchers Amand Führer (MLU), Patrick Broszka, Yüce Yilmaz-Aslan and Latife Pacolli-Tabaku (Witten-Herdecke University).
The exhibition was conceived and curated by Maren Schuster (MLU). Designstudio Mäder Haslbeck was responsible for implementation and production. After the Stadtmuseum Halle, the exhibition will move to the Schifffahrtsmuseum Bremerhaven.
