Death, the inevitable end of life, has become a topic of entertainment culture in a modern world in which it has increasingly disappeared from everyday consciousness. In crime thrillers, horror films and action thrillers, we seek the thrill, the "controlled fear". But how do we deal with our own death, which will catch up with us at some point? How do modern people, for whom God has long since become an outdated concept, react to the inexorable reality of their own death and the loss of their loved ones?

Dying without God takes up the question of how we can deal with the inevitability of death without resorting to religious promises of comfort. It sheds light on the fear of death as a universal, biologically rooted phenomenon and shows how our culture reacts to it.

In a profound dialog between terror management theory (TMT) and ethical considerations, the confrontation with one's own transience becomes an existential experiment: is it possible to live with the fear of death without being broken by it?

A poignant, if unforgiving, examination of what it means to really "live" in the face of the inevitable end.
