In this search for traces, our guests are given lively insights behind the scenes of the Villa Seligmann as a cultural institution and former family residence of Siegmund and Johanna Seligmann. The focus of this tour is the diverse definition of Jewish culture and its identity, both historically and in the present day. In his lecture, Eliah Sakakushev-von Bismarck uses historical developments before and after the civilizational rupture of the Shoah to shed light on the tensions between identity and belonging, integration and inculturation, religion and community of values. This is accompanied by a critical examination of developments in Jewish life and its social perception. Other topics include the architecture and art of the house, the family history, the organ and the organizational structure of Villa Seligmann today.

Eliah Sakakushev-von Bismarck has been the managing and program director of Villa Seligmann since 2018.

In our "Searching for Traces" series, we take you on a tour of the magnificent Villa Seligmann in the heart of Hanover. Since its reopening in 2012, Villa Seligmann has become a beacon of Jewish music and culture. It offers an international forum for people to come together, regardless of their origin, religion or cultural background. Renowned experts give lectures on various topics and allow you to take a look into the past and behind the scenes. The historical building and, of course, the history of the Seligmann family take center stage.

Admission 15 (reduced 8) euros. Guided tour with a limited number of places. Admission opens 30 minutes before the start of the event.
