In our "Searching for Traces" series, we take you on a tour of the magnificent Villa Seligmann in the heart of Hanover. Since its reopening in 2012, Villa Seligmann has become a beacon of Jewish music and culture. It offers an international forum for people to come together, regardless of their origin, religion or cultural background. Renowned experts give lectures on various topics and allow you to take a look into the past and behind the scenes. The historical building and, of course, the history of the Seligmann family take center stage.

Director Eliah Sakakushev-von Bismarck summarizes 117 years of Hanoverian city history in his lecture, looking back at the founding period of the upper middle-class Jewish family residence and its reopening as a house for Jewish music in 2012. Visitors are given lively insights behind the scenes of the magnificent cultural monument and its art objects. One focus of the tour is music as an expression of Jewish identity through the ages. This is accompanied by a critical examination of social developments in Jewish life. Other topics include the art history of the house, the family history of the former residents and the organizational structure of Villa Seligmann today.

Guided tour with a limited number of places. Admission opens 30 minutes before the start of the event.
