Since the late 2000s, the NS-DOK has been researching the actors, structures and forms of resistance against the Nazi dictatorship. The large-scale research project aimed to investigate different facets of refusal and anti-regime engagement - despite the lack of sources - from socialist and communist motives, the church milieu to the resistance of forced laborers. The NS-DOK is publishing the resulting contributions in the five-volume series "Resistance and Refusal in Cologne 1933-1945".

Dr. Martin Rüther (formerly NS-DOK) presents the first volume of the series in conversation with Dr. Stefan Müller (Archive of Social Democracy).
