"Sound System Sessions" at Conne Island - a stage that celebrates and celebrates the powerful sound system culture in all its facets! This is where handcrafted systems come together with a pulsating mix of reggae, dub, dubstep and drum'n'bass, presented by local crews and international guests from the scene.

But these events are more than just music - they are a cultural exchange full of inspiring contributions. The series already made a statement in 2022 when musicologist Stefanie Alisch shed light on the global diversity of sound system culture with a lecture on the art of microphone work in Angolan kuduro.

In October 2023, the second session seamlessly followed on from this success. Performances by Plug Dub, Zoumo, the Bavarian Siren Sisters and MC Treasure Irie as well as Yadira from Dresden's Kasalla Soundsystem made the walls vibrate. The evening kicked off with the impressive French documentary "United We Stand Part 2" before the audience dived into alternating musical rounds.

The third session, in 2024, was a special reggae/dub experience. There was a live set from Disrupt and Rootah, from the Jahtari label and the Community Rockers Soundsystem from Chemnitz, while MC Doc Dressla led the audience through the evening with his unmistakable moderation.

The Hibration Soundsystem from Hamburg, which has been shaping the scene with its self-built system since 2005, is also eagerly awaited for the upcoming session. Whether at the Alternative Harbour Birthday or on other big stages - their mix of reggae, dub and modern bass is unmistakable.

The evening is rounded off by artists such as DJ Badshape and DJ Subconscouiz, as well as DJ Histeppa from Leipzig, whose versatile sets and productions with rhythmic and bass-laden music always attempt to shift or even dissolve the boundaries of electronic music.

The "Sound System Sessions" are not just events - they create a platform that combines traditions from Jamaica and the UK with modern regional influences, bringing together artists from a wide range of backgrounds.
They are a tribute to a vibrant culture, a pulsating experience in front of many small and large loudspeaker walls, where sounds become tangible, a meeting place for lovers of bass music!
