Sonny Boys

Comedy by Neil Simon

Old love never rusts. Unfortunately, neither does old enmity. For 40 years, comedians Willie Clark and Al Lewis performed together on stage. But since they split up in a dispute, the fame of the "Sonny Boys" has faded and Willie is no longer even in demand as an actor for commercials. He is tempted by the offer of a one-off performance (for a hefty fee, of course) to bring the old days back to life. But Willie has not forgiven Al for retiring from show business and thus ending Willie's career - not good conditions for a successful "comeback".

Quirky characters and wonderful situation comedy characterize the plays of US playwright Neil Simon. With the Broadway comedies "An Odd Couple" and "Sonny Boys", he created what are probably the most bizarre male friendships in stage and film history. Great actors such as George Burns & Walter Matthau or Peter Falk & Woody Allen have put their very own stamp on the duo Willie & Al. At Theater Lübeck, Sven Simon & Andreas Hutzel take on the roles of the congenial comedians.

After 43 years on the Lübeck stage, this is Sven Simon's farewell to his permanent engagement.
