The Oder: a historical and cultural landscape that has been plowed up time and time again over the past century. A narrative in concentric circles about a region in which the beginning, end and open midst of voluntary and involuntary migrations of peoples took place and continue to take place. Virulent questions about everyday life and politics, which, posed with confident casualness, provide a resilient insight into the present.

Movements and stories in the borderland between Poland and Germany - with his new film, Andreas Voigt picks up on the theme of his 1992 work "Grenzland - Eine Reise". The loaded word "homeland" plays havoc in people's hearts and minds: what it once was and what it has become! Sure, it's not a top priority on the daily agenda. But how people occupy this word and how this in turn structures their attitudes also determines how they make up their own taste of life in the here and now of Europe. The search for closeness meets the insistence on distance. Communication about belonging becomes flimsy because the language of the body says something other than the spoken word. As a cinema film that is not interested in administering politically correct food for separation, "Grenzland" provokes experiences and facilitates encounters.
