Skerryvore

The sound of Skerryvore is as breathtaking as the island of Tiree in the west of Scotland, where the band members come from. Their energetic scot rock with fiddle, accordion, pipes, flutes, whistles, guitar and bagpipe is like the wild spray that crashes against the cliffs. Bass, keyboards and drums set driving accents. But the beauty of the Scottish Highlands is also clearly recognizable in Skerryvore's music, embodied by the wonderful voice of frontman Alec Dalglish, who is also responsible for most of the songs.

The mix of folk, tradition, pop and rock has earned the band numerous awards: Best CD and Best Singer/Songwriter, 3 x Live Act of the Year. In 2017, Skerryvore were even the face of the global "Visit Scotland" campaign.

Since their formation in 2005, the band has played over 1,000 concerts in 24 countries, released 7 studio albums and won countless fans. Festivals such as T in the Park (UK), Poyenberg Irish Open Air, Celtic European Festival, Milwaukee Irish Fest (USA) or Tonder Festival (DK) - to name but a few - have celebrated the band. With their latest album "Evo", the "Skerries", as the fans affectionately call the band, played a world tour in 2019 with concerts in the USA and Australia, among others.

Skerryvore also made it onto the BBC Radio 2 New Music Playlist in 2023 with their latest album "Tempus" and the album entered both the Scottish and British charts.

What makes Skerryvore's sound so appealing? It's the frontman's unique voice and melodies with a high recognition value, but also the tension between contemporary songwriting and the archaic sound of traditional Scottish instruments such as bagpipes, accordion and fiddle.
