Sinem

The songbook of Anadolu rock and pop is as flexible as good songs are: They always appear in a new light, in new interpretations. On their debut album "Köşk", which will be released this evening, Sinem draw on songs made famous by singers such as Sezen Aksu, Selda Bağcan, Barış Manço, Cem Karaca and Duman.

Musically, they open the door to post-punk. As hard as if these songs weren't songs, but wrecking balls. And they can be highly musical! The first small concerts of this Munich band shook all the way to Berlin, where the renowned label Fun in the Church immediately added them to its roster.

Whether in the studio or on stage, Sinem work as well as if they had cracked a formula: drummer Tom Wu, who is already highly talented, plays electronics on the side and Tagar is a guitarist on stage who is always right in the middle of the music with his instrument - without playing a single note too much. Singer Sinem conjures up the spirit of the she-punks and moves across the stage with lizard-like determination, as if her name were Iggy (Turkish) Pop. Musically and performatively, the result is inciting and intense. And so her music will spread like wildfire. Be there when the journey begins.
