Senior cinema: THE TEACHER WHO PROMISED US THE SEA

Spain 1935: Shortly before the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War, young teacher Antoni Benaiges (Enric Auquer) takes over the elementary school in a small, remote village in the province of Burgos. Thanks to his progressive, anti-authoritarian teaching methods, he quickly builds up a trusting relationship with his class. However, his friendly approach to the children is viewed with suspicion by parents and village leaders. And then Benaiges makes a promise to his pupils: During the summer vacation, he wants to show them the sea, which the children have never seen before. This idea is met with great skepticism by the children's parents... 75 years later, in 2010, Ariadna (Laia Costa), the granddaughter of one of his former pupils, researches the moving story of Antoni Benaiges and discovers the great resistance this charismatic man had to overcome.
