Schwarze Kunst – Der Letterpress-Workshop

In our two-hour workshop, you will design your own unique greeting cards that are guaranteed to make an impression. Whether funny sayings, birthday or Christmas greetings - your cards will be something special. Why? Because with the old letterpress technique, the letters are not just printed on the paper, but actually pressed into the paper. The tactile impression creates a distinctive look! Over 500 years ago, Johannes Gutenberg invented printing with movable type - letters made of wood or metal that were used for printing in the past. In our course, you will learn how to design your own printing blocks using angle irons, typesetting boxes, wooden and lead letters and dummy material. You will print on our historical printing press, the Boston platen or the hand printing press and at the end of the workshop you will be able to take a small edition of your greeting cards home with you.

This course is suitable for anyone who wants to learn how to print with movable type à la Gutenberg.
