The SCHAUFENSTER is a walk-in sound and light space. Originally created by musician and theater maker Dimitri de Perrot and composer and architect Li Tavor for the Zurich region, it is now traveling to Germany for the first time and will take up residence in Recklinghausen's Stadtgarten. Here, between the trees and paths of the park - in the immediate vicinity of the colorful hustle and bustle of the festival tent - the sound installation picks up the sounds of the surroundings and transforms them into the interior of the SCHAUFENSTER.
Visitors who enter find themselves in a resonating space that captures and reinterprets life outside. The SCHAUFENSTER invites visitors to listen and observe, opening up new and unexpected perspectives on their own immediate living environment. The SCHAUFENSTER is also played like an instrument by artists from different disciplines and cultural backgrounds. Musician and multi-instrumentalist Domi Chansorn and turntablist Dimitri de Perrot will improvise together on several evenings to the sounds and impressions of their surroundings using percussion instruments and records.
Bring your own records on June 7 and 8 and experience a live concert with your favorite records in direct interaction with the sound installation. You are cordially invited to linger after a performance at the Ruhrfestspiele or just drop by.
