"I wanted to write a song with the drama of a 19th century classical opera, but with the patience and understanding of someone in therapy in 2024," explains SASAMI. "Finding a love so great that you're willing to persevere through the elements, even to certain death, to endure it. It's about wanting to fight for the peak of passion and desire, but knowing that you can't change or speed up someone else's feelings or have any influence at all on what point they're at. The guitar is my sword and my steed. I was lucky enough to find an ally in Andrew, and together we created a sexy little drama. The 'Honeycrash' video is a little glimpse into the new world I've been building and teasing on stage. I'm really excited to release this first of many new songs in an era of melodrama, romance and, of course, hooks."

"When I first heard "Honeycrash", I was struck by the bombastic romanticism and cinematic scope of SASAMI's new sonic direction" says Andrew Thomas Huang of the video. "After long conversations about the pop focus of their new album, I wanted to create a video for them that felt big, sweeping and sexy while showcasing their performance as the highlight of the track. I wanted to create a video that evoked themes and images like runaway refugees, renegade sisterhood, ripped jeans, raw natural elements, primal rage, Thelma and Louise, tsunamis, tornadoes, flaming sunsets, apocalyptic sci-fi visions of the American West, and passionate "I'd die for you" romance. Realizing this vision on a limited budget was ambitious, but made possible by shooting on an LED stage and using epic archival footage as the backdrop for Sasami's new universe. I am honored to once again collaborate with SASAMI on this new journey and am excited about the world she heralds with her new sound and vision."
