Former member of the Bundestag Ruprecht Polenz has been vigorously opposing right-wing extremists and those who despise democracy for years. He is an influencer in the service of freedom and diversity; his posts on social media are commented on thousands of times a day. Trust in our democracy has been shaken. It is under pressure from internal and external enemies who are trying to pull the rug out from under its feet. Hundreds of thousands have understood this and have taken to the streets against right-wing extremist "remigration plans". This must not remain a flash in the pan. There is a lot at stake, because we owe it to democracy that we can lead a free and self-determined life. To keep it that way, we must become active: join in the debate, vote, get involved. Do something! This is the slogan of the cross-party recognized democracy influencer Ruprecht Polenz. In his short intervention, he conveys the value of our form of government and society in a completely new way and describes more than a dozen concrete ways to get politically involved. Ruprecht Polenz, born in 1946, is one of the German politicians with the widest reach on social media (approx. 100,000 followers on X) and was awarded the Golden Blogger in 2020. The lawyer was a member of the German Bundestag from 1994 to 2013. He was Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee from 2005 to 2013. He is considered one of the most prominent defenders of our democracy against the extremists of the right. Polenz is a regular interviewee in national media, a guest on public radio talk shows and is invited to lectures and panel discussions throughout Germany.
