The globally acclaimed Japanese snare drum soloist Ryosuke Kiyasu went viral in 2018 with the social media clip of his eruptive performance in Berlin. 23 million people were amazed by what they saw, but even established media such as BBC News and VICE magazine couldn't avoid reporting on this exceptional artist.
Kiyasu has been touring the globe as a soloist since 2003, armed only with a snare drum and two sticks. He comes from Japan's internationally acclaimed avant-garde / noise / experimental scene, has played drums in such renowned bands as SETE STAR SEPT and Keiji Haino's FUSHITSUSHA and was also a founding member of the Canadian band THE ENDLESS BLOCKADE.
As a soloist, he tours worldwide and whether it's a living room performance or a big festival stage, his wild, emotional and sprawling performances always leave astonished faces. He has already performed at the world's largest percussion festival, the Überschlag Festival, the Outsider Art Festival in Finland and the Alternativa Festival in the Czech Republic. At the Edinburgh Art Festival 2023, his performance art was declared a highlight and found great resonance in the form of a British short film with footage of his performances.
In addition to music, Ryosuke Kiyaso also has a soft spot for the fashion world and collaborates with the Swedish fashion label Our Legacy, among others. With over 200 album releases, both solo and with his bands, and his worldwide tours, he is constantly trying to push the boundaries and inspire his audience with his extraordinary talent.
