Rufi Thorpe: Only Margo

A heart-warming, funny and at the same time serious novel about a young woman who has to face the harsh reality of independent life.

Margo needs money. More than ever since she became unintentionally pregnant by her college professor, who now leaves her alone with the child. No matter how Margo turns it around, no job seems to be suitable or could even begin to finance her life with a baby. By chance, she becomes aware of the OnlyFans platform, and Margo is fascinated by this world in which women experiment with themselves and their bodies, and apparently earn good money doing it. So she also starts to produce content. She receives support from her flatmate Suzie, a big cosplay fan, and also from her father Jinx, an ex-wrestling pro. Before she knows it, Margo is an online phenomenon. Could this be the answer to all her problems, or does internet fame come at too high a price?

Rufi Thorpe received her MFA from the University of Virginia in 2009. She is the author of novels such as "The Girls from Corona Del Mar", "Dear Fang, With Love" and most recently "The Knockout Queen", which was nominated for the PEN/Faulkner Award. She lives in California with her husband and two sons and teaches at The Book Incubator.
