In her popular young adult novel, Astrid Lindgren tells the fairytale adventure of the curious robber's daughter. Born in the shelter of Mattis Castle as the daughter of the robber captain Mattis and his wife Lovis, she grows up among thuggish robbers with big hearts.
She is soon drawn out into the Mattis forest with its overwhelming nature full of good and bad surprises. She quickly gains her own idea of her future, which shakes up her previous world view.
