Romeo und Julia

Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet", composed in 1935, is one of the best ballet scores ever written. Michal Sedláček danced Romeo for many years. Now he is working with Ballett Halle on his own version of the ingenious score with its fast-paced mass scenes and musically strongly characterized characters.
"Romeo and Juliet" is the story of two hostile clans who fight each other mercilessly, plunging an entire urban society into chaos. For our ballet director, this is a timeless theme. He tells stories of today for today. That's why he turns the clans into two fashion houses that engage in a merciless battle of competition and displacement in an elegant shopping mall. Lorenzo, the mediator, is the owner of the shopping mall. He tries to maintain coexistence. It is a story in which everyone can recognize themselves.
To achieve this, Michal Sedláček has recruited fellow actors who are familiar with the milieus. Olo Křížová, a former top model and owner of a fashion label herself, is once again designing the costumes, as she did in "Evolution" and "Body Worlds". Hynek Dřízhal, who works for drama, television, cinema and the New Circus and recently wowed audiences in Halle with his sets for "Evolution" and "The Nutcracker", created the stage design. Its production was made possible by a generous grant from the "Friends of the Halle Opera and Ballet".
