Play based on William Shakespeare
Directed by Joanna Praml
In a version by Joanna Praml and Dorle Trachternach
with English surtitles
Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" is considered the most famous and greatest love story of all time - also because love is impossible and has to end tragically after only five days. The relationship between the two lovers, children of the feuding Capulet and Montague families, is ill-fated from the outset. With absolute passion and unconditional devotion, they fight against their relatives' intergenerational spiral of violence and revenge - but all reconciliation comes too late.
Director Joanna Praml, together with young people from Nuremberg and chamber actor Pius Maria Cüppers, explores the value of love in a time characterized by demarcation and division and the apparent incompatibility of various social debates.
