Queerslam

In the organizer's words:

The Wohnzimmerslam organizes the cosiest poetry slams in the whole Ruhr area - that's for sure!

We invite 6-8 poets from Bochum and the surrounding area to vie for the audience's favor with their self-written texts. The contributions must not exceed the time limit of six minutes and must be performed without props. The jury is selected from the audience each evening and is allowed to decide whose words have reached the hearts, whose jokes have made the room tremble and whose rhymes and metaphors can rival even the established poets from German lessons. The winner gets to take home victory, fame and amore!

The special thing about the evening: we are organizing a Queerslam special for the first time in Bochum! This means that all the slammers on stage are queer. We want to contribute to more visibility for queer artists on stage and create safe spaces. All queers, cuties and friends are invited to watch.

Because there are no thematic guidelines for the texts, every slam is a grab bag. It can be personal, funny, political, lyrical or absurd - but always in a good way.

The event is moderated with authenticity, jokes and profundity by Lennart Heins - another queer moderator from our team.

The Wohnzimmerslam Dortmund has been taking place for over ten years, in Bochum it moved to the beautiful event room of "I am Love", probably the most beautiful ice cream parlor in Bochum, in 2025. Ice cream, poetry and queers? That tastes good!

It is important to us to create our events as safer spaces. Discrimination of any kind has no place here. So that everyone can participate in fantastic word art, there is always an awareness person who is available as your contact person for the evening, answers any questions about menstrual products or accompaniment to the train station and is happy to take criticism and, if necessary, discomfort. Come as you are: loud, covered up, a little shy, alone or with people, great and wonderful - however you feel comfortable. We are looking forward to a feel-good atmosphere and an audience that is simply in the mood for culture.
