Christmas has been around for more than 5,000 years! Excuse me? Well, not Christmas as the birth of the baby Jesus, of course. Because this event in the stable in Bethlehem is known to have happened "only" 2,000 years ago. But the customs and festivities surrounding Christmas are much older. Why do we actually celebrate the festival on December 24? Where does the Christmas tree come from? To what extent is the Virgin Mary, who gives birth to the savior of the world, actually an invention from ancient Egypt? And what role has alcohol always played in all of this, quite apart from the notorious mulled wine stall? This program provides answers to these and many other questions about the most wonderful time of the year with funny, witty and thought-provoking stories.

Our in-house musicians, the Bergson Artists, play Christmas songs from all over the world in specially created arrangements. They include classics such as "Jul jul", "Leise rieselt der Schnee" and "Adeste fideles", as well as lesser-known pieces such as "Sidrabiņa lietiņš lija". A program that will not only entertain you, but also provide you with stories for the Christmas season to liven up any family celebration with humour.
