PREFET ADAM - "The acoustic voice"

Préfet, whose real name is Adama Baldé, was born on October 13, 1980 in Kolda, a town in southern Senegal. The Casamance region, where he grew up, is known for its cultural diversity, with ethnic groups such as the Fulani, Mandingo, Diola and Manjacque. It was in this region, historically known as Fouladou, that Préfet discovered his passion for music at an early age. As early as 1994, he was recognized by his family and friends as an outstanding singer. He won numerous prizes at regional cultural competitions and in 1997 took part in the prestigious "Oscar de Vacances" in Dakar, a nationally televised competition, with a music group from his region.

In addition to his singing talent, Préfet learned to play the guitar on his own and quickly picked up the usual chords. From 2008, he toured Europe as a guitarist, in particular Spain, France and, in 2009, England. These trips broadened his musical horizons and enriched his career with valuable experience.

In 2012, Préfet founded the Fulani Melody Band, with which he incorporates traditional African instruments such as the kora, ngoni and calabasse into his music. With a unique blend of acoustic folk, Afro and blues, he delights both Senegalese and international music lovers at his live performances in Dakar and beyond. He sings in Pulaar, Wolof, Mandinka, French and English about topics such as love, peace, solidarity and education.

In 2015, he released his debut album "WOMA WOMA" under the label "Blue Saxo", which brought him national and international recognition.
