Two women enter the immaculate white stage, whisper something to each other, smile and begin to move to the serial music of Coti K. Gradually, other dancers join the graceful rhythmic movement and unfold a meticulously choreographed force. In Mellowing, choreographer Christos Papadopoulos explores the interplay between stillness and liveliness and reveals a serene yet energetic body. Together with the dancers of the Dance On Ensemble, he explores moments of intensity that create a dynamic restlessness into whose rhythm the audience is drawn. Founded in 2015, Dance On Ensemble celebrates the artistic excellence of dancers over 40 and collaborates with internationally renowned choreographers and directors, including Rabih Mroué, Lucinda Childs, Meg Stuart and Jan Martens. Mellowing by Christos Papadopoulos is one of the twelve dance productions selected nationwide for the German Dance Platform 2024.
