Portrait Sculpting

This workshop offers participants a unique experience in modeling portraits with clay, based on a live model in the inspiring atmosphere of the Drink and Draw Berlin studio.

This workshop emphasizes the method of direct observation as well as looking at the basic anatomy of the human head - its proportions as well as the fundamentals of composition and aesthetic ideals.

The technique offered is designed to translate complex visual information into a clear structure to enable a precise three-dimensional representation of the model. The methodology used by Alexandra Slava, the founder and main instructor of the Berlin Sculpture Atelier, makes the acquisition of solid craft skills in figurative sculpture accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

The workshop includes regular individual feedback, lectures, demonstrations and group discussions. Upon completion of the workshop, participants can have their clay sculptures fired outside of the course if desired for an additional fee.
