Pogo Bar – Neva Demure: Unplugged in Berlin

Neva Demure, who hails from the New York queer club scene, will present the unplugged version of her new album Antidote at Pogo Bar.

Neva's latest single Trauma Curl marks a striking departure from the hyper-pop sounds that have defined her music to date. This evolution goes beyond a mere sonic shift - it's a redefinition of her artistic identity. With her analog production, Neva swaps the glossy, energetic facade of hyper-pop for a more personal and tangible style; she focuses on live instruments and stripped-back vocals instead of auto-tune and electronic beats.

Neva Demure's debut EP Shame to Vengeance (2018) introduced her to the New York club scene with its tongue-in-cheek, hypersexual lyrics. In contrast, Antidote offers a raw, chaotic and intimate insight into her world. Their new sound pays homage to the 1990s and MTV unplugged shows by mixing contemporary electronic and dance influences with alternative rock. The album details a personal journey with confessional lyrics that explore themes of mental health and the transfeminine experience.

Antidote will be released on April 11, 2025 via Movement Records. As they prepare for a loud and electronic release concert, Neva and her band will perform the quieter sides of their album at KW's Pogo Bar, where they will perform acoustic versions of the album with a five-piece band in the brick basement.

Neva Demure (born and raised in Seattle, USA) is an up-and-coming artist from Berlin who is redefining electronic and alternative music. Her recent releases include the single TIGHTLIP (2022) and the EP Shame to Vengeance (2018). Between 2022 and 2023 she was part of the music duo Too Fated.

Venue:
The event will take place at KW's Pogo Bar. The Pogo Bar is located in a windowless room with a low ceiling in the basement vault of KW. Access to the Pogo Bar is possible via an elevator. The elevator is located in the inner courtyard behind Café Bravo on the left-hand side. Please send us an e-mail in advance to reservation@kw-berlin.de so that we can reserve the elevator for you.

Admission starts at 9 pm.
