The crazy battle for words and minds
Germany, the land of poets and thinkers. The written and declaimed word is considered one of the highest cultural Germanic goods. Poetry slams are the fabulously sweet icing on the eloquent ice cream cake: in all corners of the republic, the craziest word acrobats take to the stage and proclaim their hand-crafted poetic gems.
That's not enough for us at the Schmidtchen - that's why we're now putting the cherry on top of the slam principle: Helene Bockhorst - poetry slammer, comedienne and recent winner of the 2018 Hamburg Comedy Cup - and Schmidtchen landlord Henning Mehrtens invite poetry slammers from all over Germany to the smallest Schmidt stage and bring unexpected talents to light. Because anything can happen at Poetry Schlamassel - just nothing planned: authors swap their works, have to integrate words or whole sentences into their texts, incorporate protagonists from the audience into the event or shine in completely new disciplines. Poetry slam goes crazy!
At the end, of course, a winner is chosen, but is it really the one with the best text or the best presentation, or just the only one who survived the evening in one piece ...?
