PAUL PRASSEL QUARTET

In the organizer's words:

The guitarist and composer Paul Prassel, born and raised in Cologne, completed his bachelor's degree at the HfMT Cologne and currently lives in Cologne and Oslo, where he completed his master's degree with Lage Lund, among others, as a DAAD scholarship holder.
He is active in both cities as a bandleader and sideman and was a member of the JJO NRW for many years, as well as part of the Elbphilharmonie Jazzacademy 2023.
The Paul Prassel Quartet now celebrates its premiere in this line-up and presents pieces that have emerged from his master's project over the last two years. The main focus was on the question of what he actually likes about music and what ways there are to explore this and form his own musical identity from it. In addition to all phases of jazz history, he has also worked intensively with Brazilian, classical and new music. But books, films and board games of all kinds, which were a major help in surviving the long Norwegian winter, also play a major role.
