The indigenous community of the Kichwa Puruhaes lives in the highlands of the Ecuadorian Andes. Once a year, they await the arrival of the Cuviví birds, who make the long journey from North America only to commit collective suicide on arrival and plunge into the ice-cold waters of the Ozogoche lakes. The event is accompanied by spiritual celebrations; the Kichwa Puruhaes have transmitted that the lakes enchant and seduce the Cuviví. A visually stunning film about origins, tradition, identity and the future. (FSK 18)
