It's Easter and we're heading across the lake, and it's going to be good: we're giggling our way out of Berlin, bobbing up the Spree at a leisurely pace and enjoying so much bubbling on what, according to Alex, is the most beautiful tour you can take. And the Holy Spirit also comes along for the ride in the form of a liqueur.
From Caprivibrücke and through the city of Berlin towards Müggelsee: all the highlights included, Spreekreuz, Hansaviertel, Bellevue Palace, Chancellery, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Reichstag, Friedrichstraße, Museum Island, cathedral, TV tower, Nikolaiviertel, this, that, pineapple. After the lock at Mühlendammschleuse, Spree spokesman Alex's favourite tour takes us through the idyllic club landscape by day and electrifying by night at Holzmarkt, Yaam, Tresor and the former Kiki Blofeld to the East Side Gallery and Oberbaumbrücke, where the Spree is then wide again, full and incredibly fat (anyone who recognizes the quote gets a little kiss). Past the Molecule Men towards Liebesinsel and Insel der Jugend, past Plänterwald with the former leisure park, the anticipation of the romantic Schöneweider Kultur-Technologie-Studio-Loft-HTW landscape grows, which turns into wonderful nature again towards Oberschöneweide, before we finally pass the enchanting old town of Köpenick through the Müggelspree into the open, my friend: the Müggelsee lies ahead of us, and you can almost imagine what it would be like if Berlin really were by the sea. With freshly recharged batteries, we drive back in and have, that's the plan, a very, very nice day.
