In Berlin, a young woman has a new job at a major television station. Everything is good. The new boss is great, the future a bright promise. Especially late at night, when a text message flashes up on her cell phone screen: "Still awake?". In Los Angeles, in the garden of the legendary Chateau Marmont hotel, a writer is trying to write a romance novel, but isn't really getting anywhere. He meets Rose McGowan, an actress who is rumored to have recently become somewhat tiring because she complains about old power structures and a tangible abuse of power. She leaves the writer a cryptic message - or is it rather an assignment? He returns to Berlin, meets the young woman who works for the big TV station and finds himself in the middle of a confusing situation that plunges him into a deep personal conflict.
After Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre's "Panikherz", Christopher Rüping directs the world premiere of "Noch wach?" at the Thalia Theater. His works are always interrogations of the present and tackle contemporary themes in a wide variety of forms and very free approaches. Most recently, he staged Thomas Köck's climate trilogy "Paradise" and the novel "Breasts and Eggs" by Mieko Kawakami at the Thalia Theater.
