The Schwankhalle is pleased to present the new program "Post-Genre", an international residency project in collaboration with the Städtische Galerie Bremen. Under the direction of artist and choreographer Renen Itzhaki, the residency is aimed at creative duos from abroad working in the fields of performance, visual and time-based art.

The residency was conceived to meet the specific needs of artists working across genres, with a focus on time-based art. Artists with an interdisciplinary approach often find it difficult to find suitable workspaces, technical support or mentors that meet the different requirements of their project. Post-Genre aims to close this gap. In recognition of the value and effectiveness of a residency with a collaborative partner, the program was intentionally designed for two artists to apply together, either as a new or existing duo.

In collaboration with the Städtische Galerie Bremen, the month-long residency offers the selected artists a financial stipend, access to rehearsal space, artistic advice, as well as networking opportunities with the local art scene and a public presentation of the results.

The jury selected the Prague duo Nitish Jain and Magdalena Malinová, who work at the interface of stage design, theater and participatory performance, from numerous applications. During their month-long residency in Bremen, they will continue their artistic research into touch, vulnerability and empathy. In three free workshops and a showing, they will share their results and invite people to exchange ideas.
