Nik Bärtsch’s RONIN

SPIN is the 9th release by the working band RONIN since its formation in 2001 and the first with new bassist Jeremias Keller, who joined the band in 2020. The band still consists of founding members Nik Bärtsch and drummer Kaspar Rast as well as horn player Sha. Since their last release AWASE, the band has continuously developed the repertoire of their weekly concerts at their own EXIL club in Zurich. SPIN is both a look back and a look forward. The RONIN rhythm culture, which is based on pattern, cycle and groove developments with sophisticated beats, is still present, paired with a joy of playing and an awareness of freedom within the clear structures.
