Nico Theo Quartett

In the organizer's words:

Nico Theodossiadis shines with his solo "voice" through the densely layered musical textures of the quartet he leads. Traces of world music permeate the compositions, grounding them and acting as a counterpoint to the intense dynamics of the compact band sound. Despite its "Greek" coloration, the quartet never becomes the bandleader's one-man show, as his colleagues find enough freedom to pursue their own ideas and playing styles.

Despite its youth, the quartet has already developed a very complex and well-balanced sound, skillfully alternating between expressive and balladic moments. With a classical line-up that is well anchored in modern jazz history, the band succeeds in creating new, unique soundscapes - a style that has already been recognized with numerous awards, including the prestigious Burghausen International Jazz Prize.
