In the 1970s, protests by Jewish survivors against three former SS officials aroused public opinion in West Germany. Between 1979 and 1980, the trial of Kurt Lischka, Herbert M. Hagen and Ernst Heinrichsohn, who had been instrumental in organizing the deportation of the Jewish population from France from Paris between 1941 and 1944, took place at the Cologne Regional Court.
A new website commemorates the trial and its history.
Dr. Anne Klein (University of Cologne) and Jens Tanzmann (Geschwister Scholl Gymnasium Pulheim), together with the other creators of the site, present the possibilities of historical and educational reappraisal.
