The drum recordings for Exul, the fourth longplayer by Australian extreme progressive metallers Ne Obliviscaris, began in March 2020. Until this date, an ominous tone prevails: March 2020. The demarcation line of the pandemic. That month, Daniel Presland laid down his drums in Nashville, Tennessee, with American producer Mark Lewis. The band's signature blend of emotion and beauty is as stunning as ever, if not more so, especially as Charles' violin lines carefully weave around the riffing of Baret and fellow guitarist Matt Klavins. The duality of Charles' clear vocals and Xenoyr's growls remains the narrative anchor, creating songs that exude sophistication and are a masterclass in composition.
Touring will play a big part in Ne Obliviscaris' plans for 2024. The band will play headlining tours worldwide to explore new territories.
