Nach dem Rosa Winkel – Abschlusspräsentation

In the organizer's words:

The liberation from National Socialism in the spring of 1945 did not mean an end to persecution and discrimination for all victim groups equally. Homosexuals remained in the crosshairs, as the Nazi version of Paragraph 175 remained unchanged in the Criminal Code of the Federal Republic of Germany. The police and judiciary continued to persecute homosexuals relentlessly - especially in Düsseldorf, which had already been a center of persecution for homosexuals during the Third Reich.

In autumn 2024, young people led by director Marvin Wittiber explored the persecution of the queer scene in National Socialist Düsseldorf in the theater project "Allein im Rosa Winkel". The theater collective is now continuing this artistic exploration. In a staged reading, it explores the significance of the end of the war 80 years ago for queer Düsseldorfers: How did life go on for the survivors? Were they able to overcome their isolation and loneliness? Was the shattered, once thriving queer subculture revived? How can we talk about it today? And which battles for recognition and equal rights have still not been won?

An intensive theater workshop about the continued persecution of Düsseldorf's homosexuals after 1945
